Allah says: Eat here! Eat there! Eat everywhere!

Quran: Surah An-Nur 24:61

There is no blame on the blind nor any blame on the lame nor any blame on the sick (for eating only to satisfy their need without causing any harm and waste, in the house of any healthy, well-off person), and neither on yourselves that (in case of need and without prior invitation), you eat in your spouse’s and children’s houses, or your fathers’ houses, or your mothers’ houses, or your brothers’ houses, or your sisters’ houses, or your paternal uncles’ houses, or your paternal aunts’ houses, or your maternal uncles’ houses, or your maternal aunts’ houses, or in the houses for which you are responsible, or the house of any of your close friends (who should be happy to see you feeling free to eat at their home). There is no blame on you if you eat together or separately.

The holey Quran, in all its wisdom and generosity, allows eating within the comfort of one’s own home.

The Quran: Where it’s not just about feeding the soul, but also about feeding your stomach via eating in at your own house, your mom’s house, your dad’s house, your children’s house, your sister’s house, your brother’s house your aunt’s house, your uncle’s house and your friend’s house. Allah was so attentive not to miss anyone out.

To summarize, it’s halal to eat at anyone’s house that will have you. Maybe Allah was just filling up the pages of the holey Quran with some food for thought.

Or Perhaps Allah imagines us as Goldilocks’ gang, destined to wander into the houses of the three bears for a meal.”

Then the Quran also generously reveals ‘there is no blame on you if you eat together or separately’. Duh Allah, Was there any doubt that eating alone isn’t a sin? Did we really need reassurance that dining alone won’t send us to foodie hell?

Yet, while Allah found the time and space to detail his exhaustive list of permissible eating spots, the Quran is silent on the topic of punishment for rape. Maybe Allah left it out, thinking, “Let’s not spoil the meal with such an awkward conversation topic!” Allah had no appetite for putting that topic on the menu.

Now, let’s munch on some Bible verses as food for thought:

Matthew 4:4

But Jesus answered, “It is written: Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.”

Matthew 15:11

It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth—this defiles a person.
